PROJECT 10073 RECORD CARD 1. DATE 5 Jun 61 3. DATE-TIME GROUP Local 2304 GMT 06/0505Z Jun 61 5. PHOTOS □ Yes [ ] No 7. LENGTH OF OBSERVATION 30 seconds 10. BRIEF SUMMARY OF SIGHTING Eight objects, round in "V" formation. Sighted almost directly overhead. Second observer saw only one light object and was unsure that it was anything except a star. No air traffic reported from local tower. Objects moved from SE to NW, disappearing in about 30 seconds. ATIC FORM 329 (REV 26 SEP 52) 2. LOCATION Champaign Illinois 4. TYPE OF OBSERVATION [X] Ground-Visual □ Air-Visual □ Ground-Radar □ Air-Intercept Radar 6. SOURCE Civilian 8. NUMBER OF OBJECTS eight 9. COURSE SE-NW 11. COMMENTS No distance moved included and it is assumed that disappearance was overhead also. The constellation Bootes was directly overhead at the time of the sighting, and has several bright stars forming a triangle, including the 1st magnitude star Arcturus. It is believed that the witness was looking at the constellation Bootes and that clouds moving across the sky gave the illusion of movement to the objects. 12. CONCLUSIONS □ Was Balloon □ Probably Balloon □ Possibly Balloon □ Was Aircraft □ Probably Aircraft □ Possibly Aircraft [ ] Was Astronomical Bootes □ Probably Astronomical □ Possibly Astronomical □ Other □ Insufficient Data for Evaluation □ Unknown
